Increasing Engagement and Productivity
People who participate in our Life Portfolio Program® use it for professional development during their traditional careers and, later, for building a post-career combination of part-time work and other meaningful activities, such as family, leisure, learning, legacies and giving back. Post-career, it’s about building on their careers, not walking away from them. If individuals get started with enough lead time, the program typically leads to higher productivity and engagement in the preretirement phase.
"If I'd had a plan for the future," one executive told us, "my performance during my last years would have been even more productive."
Why? Because people stay engaged when they plan what's next – and disengage when they fear what's next. Our assessment process may disclose unforeseen ways that can help make the client's transition more effective and productive.
Several corporations are using our programs in their leadership succession planning and retention efforts. They often sponsor senior managers as New Directions clients one to two years before their expected departure. Additionally, companies are incorporating our life portfolio planning as part of their wellness programs. This added benefit offers executives a vision and plan for their future and encourages them to remain healthy, fit, and productive.
